Our Pool Schools

At JuCare, the Focus is on the Individual – and Therefore also on the Question: What does a Child need to cope well in everyday School Life and to be able to really Participate?

As part of InBuS (Inclusive Education and School), we therefore work with a pool system for school inclusion. This means that school inclusion is teamwork for us. Several school inclusion staff work together at one location, are professionally and organisationally coordinated by a team leader and support children as needed in everyday school life.

What does that Mean for the Children?

With us, children meet trusted caregivers – and at the same time a team that coordinates and shares a common attitude. It is important to us that relationships do not develop by chance, but are consciously formed: with clarity, reliability, humor, patience and a focus on the child’s strengths. This allows trust to grow – and with it courage, independence and participation.

Why a Pool System?

For us, a pool system combines two things that are particularly important: Relationship work and reliability.
Needs can change quickly in everyday life: Transitions, breaks, group phases or stressful situations sometimes require more support – at other times less.

The team allows us to react flexibly without losing sight of the child. And: if someone is ill, the team can act as a substitute. This means that support remains stable, predictable and safe – for children, school and parents.

How does this Manifest itself in everyday School Life?

We provide support where it is needed: in lessons, during work phases, in group and social forms, during breaks, when changing rooms or in challenging moments. Through regular agreements, joint observations and coordinated strategies, we ensure that support is transparent, consistent and pedagogically appropriate.

We work closely with teachers, the OGTS and, depending on the setting, also with special needs education, school social work, parents and other partners. Short paths, clear responsibilities and an appreciative exchange are important to us.

JuSports - Exercise, Team Spirit and Trust

JuSports is an exercise program offered by JuCare that is implemented at our pool school GGS Lustheiderstraße, for example. Once a quarter, all school inclusion staff meet with the children they support in the gym for a varied sports and exercise program. The program lasts two school hours and focuses on different areas – e.g. motor skills, cooperation, team spirit, fair play, adhering to rules and social interaction.

In addition to exercise, the focus is primarily on building relationships: children and school inclusion staff should get to know each other (even) better, have fun together, build trust and gain positive group experiences. Games, stations and team tasks create experiences that strengthen everyday life and support participation.
The content is planned alternately by the school inclusion staff.

A teacher is present during JuSports and assumes responsibility for supervision. The JuCare team leader coordinates the times and use of the gym closely with the school management and ensures reliable organisation.

Team Management, Exchange & professional Quality

To ensure that the team remains well organised, JuCare holds regular team meetings with the team leader. In addition, a team day is held every six months to discuss educational content in greater depth, evaluate experiences and further develop our standards. If there are challenging situations, we offer case counseling and, if necessary, coaching for school escorts – so that no one is left alone and children can receive the best possible support.

Best practice: GGS Lustheiderstraße

How effective this model can be is demonstrated by our pool system at GGS Lustheiderstraße, among others, which has been successfully implemented via a cooperation agreement: 15 children are currently accompanied by 12 school escorts – supplemented by a team leader as a permanent coordinating and specialist authority.

The team works closely together, creates stable relationships and at the same time can react flexibly to everyday school life. This creates noticeably more continuity, security and relief – for children, school and parents.
