Field of Activity as an Inclusion Assistant

An inclusion assistant accompanies children and young people with physical or mental impairments – e.g. in connection with autism spectrum disorder, AD(H)S or Dyslexia – and promotes their equal participation. In many regions, children and young people on the autism spectrum make up the majority of cases in which inclusion assistance is used. Their special support needs – for example in the areas of communication, stimulus processing, social interaction and structure – make individual support essential.

In order to support these children effectively, a sound qualification is particularly important. It creates confidence, provides specialist knowledge about autistic perception and behavior as well as suitable methods for structuring and de-escalation. This not only promotes the participation of the pupils, but also relieves the burden on the school environment.

There are numerous positions for inclusion assistants in Germany, both in schools and in daycare facilities for children and in areas of youth and disability support. Employers include school authorities, charities, independent organisations and institutions such as the German Red Cross and Lebenshilfe. The demand for inclusion assistance is high and constantly growing, as inclusive education is a key social concern.

This further training qualifies participants to work as an inclusion assistant with a special focus on autism spectrum disorders in order to meet the increased needs and special requirements. It also teaches important skills for dealing with other support needs so that participants can also easily support children and young people with other disorders after completing the course. This opens up a wide range of career prospects in the inclusive education and support system.

This measure conveys more than just specialist knowledge. It strengthens self-confidence, intuition and the ability to deal with challenging situations in a professional and solution-oriented manner. Practical, activating and at eye level – from practice for practice.

Aim of the Training

Would you like to make an important contribution and play an active role in shaping inclusion? This qualification program prepares you specifically for supporting children and adolescents with special support needs with a convincing combination of theory and practice. A special focus is placed on autism spectrum disorders (ASD) – a disorder that is frequently present in inclusive school life and requires specific knowledge and a high level of competence.

The central aim of our program is to promote competence and professional confidence. Our participants not only learn the theoretical basics, but also receive concrete methodological tools with which they can confidently meet the diverse challenges of everyday pedagogical work – from structuring everyday life to crisis intervention and building professional relationships. Self-awareness, case work and practical exercises are integral parts of our formats.

Legal Basis
Practical phase: (6 weeks)
Put your theoretical knowledge into practice at the end of your training. You will have the opportunity to work at a school, special school or similar institution close to your home and gain valuable practical experience.
In-house final examination:
In this examination, you will demonstrate what you have learned and the skills you have built up during your training. We will prepare you step by step so that you can look forward to the exam with confidence. Upon successful completion, you will receive your certificate as recognized proof of your qualification, which will strengthen your chances on the job market and underline your professionalism in your profession.
Supplementary Modules and additional Offers:

  • Teaching basic knowledge for emergency situations in everyday school life (first aid for children)
  • Individual support with room for personal topics, skills enhancement and professional goals as part of individual coaching (5 teaching units per person spread over the total duration)
  • Practical preparation for situational confidence by working on tasks independently as part of self-study units (5 teaching units per week)
