The Social Competence Groups
Participation in social skills training is intended to help older children and young people overcome developmental difficulties and behavioral problems. Based on a group pedagogical concept, the group work is intended to promote the development of older children and young people through social learning in the group.
The target group is made up of children, teenagers and young adults aged between 8 and 21, who are grouped together as homogeneously as possible in terms of age and needs.
Social skills training is a closed course in which a group of consistent members work on specific problems or topics with agreed objectives that were jointly defined as part of the support planning.
The most Important Facts at a Glance
From 01.09.2026, training will take place on Saturdays from 10:30 to 12:45; entry is possible on 01.02. or 01.09.
Number of participants between 5 and 10. Location is Troisdorf-Oberlar
Parents’ evenings and parent-teacher conferences offer the opportunity for professional guidance and exchange between the parents concerned.
The participants should be able to use the help to expand their general skills and experience alternative strategies. They should be able to deal with conflicts more constructively, learn to tolerate frustration better and develop more confidence in their own personality. Within the framework of Section 35a, SGB VIII, which describes the integration assistance for mentally disabled children and young people, the offer is also intended to serve as an intensive group training program to expand social communication and interactive skills and competencies.
This training in social skills and abilities is particularly suitable for children and young people with an autism spectrum disorder, as the requirements of a peer group as a therapeutic framework are highly effective in achieving development and therapy goals due to the nature of the disorder.
